Great news! In early March of this year, a children’s snack brand based in Tokyo, Japan, placed a custom order with Longine for 20,000 cartoon-themed snack food packaging bags to be used for the marketing and sales of its fruit crisps, animal-shaped cookies, and filled snack product lines.
This project features a stand-up pouch design with a hanging hole, and the packaging style primarily incorporates pink tones and cartoon elements to better meet the display requirements of Japanese convenience stores and maternal and infant retail outlets. To ensure both visual appeal and structural integrity, Longine implemented multiple optimizations regarding bag structure, print colors, heat-seal strength, and shipping protection.
From design approval to bulk delivery, the entire production process proceeded smoothly, and shipments were completed in time for the client’s new product launch.

Client Background and Packaging Requirements
As competition in Japan’s snack food market intensifies, packaging has become a key factor influencing consumer purchasing decisions.
The client primarily targets children aged 3–12, with sales channels spanning convenience stores, baby and maternity chains, and retail outlets near schools. To launch a new line of children’s snacks, the client planned to simultaneously upgrade its product packaging system.
After product development was completed, the client found that the existing packaging could no longer meet the sales requirements for the new products. Key issues included:
- Unattractive packaging appearance;
- Inconsistent visual styles across multiple products;
- Insufficient shelf visibility for small-sized packages;
- Mediocre display performance on hanging racks;
- Some packaging was prone to creasing after transportation.
Consequently, the client decided to redesign the entire packaging strategy and sought a packaging supplier capable of providing customized services, with the aim of further enhancing product presentation and point-of-sale performance.
Designing a Custom Packaging Solution for the Target Consumer Group
After multiple rounds of communication, the Longine team gained a deep understanding of the client’s product positioning, sales channels, and consumer demographics, and developed a brand-new packaging solution.
Considering that young consumers are more easily drawn to bright colors and cartoon elements, the snack food packaging bags feature soft pink and white as the primary color scheme, complemented by cartoon animal characters, heart motifs, and playful typography.
To accommodate different product sizes, multiple packaging layouts were developed for this project.
Packaging capacities include:
- 35g fruit crisp pouches
- 50g animal-shaped cookie pouches
- 80g mixed snack pouches
All snack packaging bag maintains a consistent brand visual style, making it easy for consumers to quickly identify the brand’s products.
Optimizing Bag Structure to Enhance In-Store Display Effectiveness
In addition to the visual design, the client placed particular emphasis on how the products would be displayed in convenience stores and supermarkets.
After evaluation, Longine recommended using stand-up pouches combined with a carry-handle and hanging loop structure.
This snack food packaging bags design effectively addresses the following needs:
- Vertical shelf display
- Hanging display on hooks
- Convenient portability for consumers
- Product category-based sales
To ensure the strength of the hanging hole area, the top heat-seal area was reinforced during production.
Additionally, the snack food packaging bags bottom features a widened sealing structure, ensuring the bag maintains good stability even after filling, resulting in a neater product display on the shelves.
Production Process for 20,000 Snack Food Packaging Bags
After project confirmation, the client placed a single order for 20,000 packaging bags.
Packaging Materials Used:
PET/PE food-grade laminate
This structure balances print quality, package rigidity, and heat-seal performance, making it suitable for packaging children’s snacks, cookies, and fruit and vegetable crisps.
During production, Longine focused on controlling the following key aspects:
- Color consistency in printing
- Registration accuracy of patterns
- Dimensional tolerances of the bags
- Heat seal strength testing
- Sampling and testing of finished products
Particular attention was paid to the cartoon pattern printing areas, where color accuracy was calibrated multiple times to ensure consistent visual quality across every batch.
New Packaging Enhances Brand Display at Retail Outlets
Following the product launch, the client reported a significant improvement in the display effectiveness of the new packaging at convenience stores and retail outlets.
The unified brand visual style, distinctive cartoon design, and stable bag structure make the products more recognizable on the shelves. At the same time, the packaging’s sealing performance and overall quality meet the client’s requirements for children’s food packaging.
Following the successful sale of the initial batch, the client launched additional projects for pet snack and gift snack packaging, continuing their partnership with Longine.
